ALZHEIMER LIGA VLAANDEREN vzw

Alzheimer Liga Vlaanderen is an umbrella organization for people with dementia, young dementia and their informal caregivers and family members. As a patient and volunteer platform, the non-profit organization has provided the necessary support for scientific research and the improvement of quality of life in persons with dementia since 1995. The goal? Making dementia bearable together, both for patients and their loved ones.

Alzheimer Liga Vlaanderen knows better than anyone that talking connects and strengthens. Sharing stories, sympathizing with fellow sufferers, gaining insight into the disease, ... The committed non-profit organization is supported by hundreds of volunteers who organize discussion groups on dementia and young dementia. Meanwhile, the association has built a solid network of 62 Flemish self-help groups that meet on a regular basis. By listening to each other and sharing experiences, the organization supports patients during all stages of the dementia process, from awareness and prevention to diagnosis and treatment.

In addition, Alzheimer Liga Vlaanderen puts maximum effort into scientific research and works closely with universities, governments and inspectorates. Thus, with its own advisory board and working group, the organization plays a pioneering role in the developments surrounding dementia.

"Our volunteers are the beating heart of the association. The practical, administrative part is managed by a professional team in Officenter Turnhout. From flexible meeting rooms to full-option facilities, we are very pleased with the quality of service."
